Thread Space's Top Picks of The Week: Week 9
It's a special day today because Thread Space is in ya inbox yet again.
First off we want to thank all of YOU! Yes, you. Why? Because we recently made it to 50 subs on Substack. That’s amazing so thank you so much. It’ll definitely come across as cheesy, but I don’t think Mariano expected it to grow so quickly! (Editor’s note: Mariano doesn’t measure success in subs.) I did because I knew that we had some goated intel to help you become the hottest fashionbro around.
Today Mariano is going to start us off with his fire garms
Mariano
WE’RE BACK LOSERS. I know you missed out pics but I’m hoping you are enjoying reading these on a Saturday morning over a cup of coffee.
I feel like this week is out of the norm for me since it includes AFFORDABLE options and UNRELEASED OPTIONS. I really do enjoy bringing $$$$$$$$$$ options to the table along with items no one can acquire. I actually have 4 picks this week.
Vinny’s MareeM T-Strap Mary Jane Derby
No but these have a DEATH GRIP on me. They’re essentially derbies with a small little cutout. Like if you can get over the fact they they’re called Mary Jane’s I think they become a really fun and versatile shoe. Imagine a nice link pink sock under? Pure heat. This is like the ideal wedding / fancy event shoe.
I am also a firm believer in vibran soles & how they instantly make any pair of shoes better. It’s like a rugged upgrade to an otherwise very feminine shoe. I don’t think that should deter you though; there was a time when Birks were worn EXCLUSIVELY by moms and now every guy has a pair or two tucked away somewhere. I think we’re past the point of being scared to wear something that might not be traditionally worn by guys. (My wife doesn’t think I can pull these off but she’s so wrong.)
Is the price tag steep? Sure? But maybe just don’t be broke? (CRAZY BECAUSE IF YOU GUYS SUBBED I COULD GET THESE.)
GAP Heavyweight Relaxed Pocket T
I’m here for the mall brand revival. While J Crew & Madewell have been publicly at the forefront of the revival, Gap has been subtly crushing it for a few seasons now. Under the reign of Calvin George Leung, the store your mom used to try to trick you into going into has become one of the best places to acquire solid basics + really great quality denim for an accessible price.
This t-shirt really blew me away when I touched it this week. It feels just like better than those heavy Buck Mason t-shirts for just a bit less money. They’re heavy but breathable? Does that make sense? Like you can wear them through the summer without worrying about forming a swamp under your pits. In terms of price point, full price $35 USD isn’t bad at all considering what you’re getting; if you’re reading this the week this posted they’re actually on sale for $27 if you click the link in the title bar. (You…guys know we include the links for the title of every item right? Go click it.)
Available in other colors and patterns, I think this is a smart investment for a daily t-shirt that drapes just enough to get that vintage look as opposed to that shlumped, bummy look. I’d advise staying true to size, or even sizing down for a more classic look. I haven’t bought these yet myself, but I might go pick up a few in person this weekend.
NN.07 - Unreleased Coat & Cardigan
RARELY WILL I POST THINGS YOU CANNOT GO AND PURCHASE RIGHT NOW BUT THESE ARE SO, SO GOOD. The coat looks like an instant classic, the ‘fun’ option in your close once you get a solid black one + grey one. The cardigan just looks like a great playful pattern that is much cooler than what your grandpa still wears. No real other info available other than these are for Spring 2025 which gives you a year to start saving up.

BONUS PICK: Bode X Nike Astro Grabber
I am very anti hyped sneaker but these tick off all the boxes: black and classic and subtle and understated. This might be the first pair of sneaker I ever pay resell prices for. They’re that good, especially in this black color way.
Theodore
Editor’s note: Theo forgot to add a brief intro here. This is why I (Mariano) am the brains of the operations.
Madewell Quilted Liner Shirt Jacket
In Australia, Madewell is not a brand (albeit just a mall brand), you see every day. In fact, we don’t have any Madewell stores! With full transparency, I didn’t even know the brand existed until a couple of years ago.
Reading Mariano’s subversive, intelligent, profound, nuanced post on Madewell and Aaron Levine’s impact, I knew I had to have a browse. Funny enough I found a lot of gear I would happily wear. This quilted liner stood out to me. First inspection it gives me similar vibes to Universal Works. This piece stood out to me because I’m in love with textures as of late. I think a big part of that fascination has been because I’m leaning towards darker colours so rather than a splash of colour, I’m opting for some funky-feeling fabrics (that’s the teacher in me bringing out that alliteration). A quilted liner isn’t exactly full of textures, but the quilted liner does replicate a similar style. There are plenty of quilted liners out there, but I enjoy a quilted pattern on an overshirt.

Homecore became one of my ‘need to watch’ labels after the amazing experience I had perusing in Paris (some more alliteration for you). I didn’t know the store existed until my wife and I were waiting for our coffees and pain au chocolat. Picture this: you walk into this beautifully set up store, Westside Gunn’s latest project with the Alchemist and Conway playing in the store. Instantly I felt at home. It was a quiet morning for them, but I was walking around the store literally feeling every garment because it all looked so amazing.
Anyways, back to the shirt. Trying to add a touch of colour this week. I’m a sucker for seersucker — even though I don’t own any but it always looks so good. I’m surprised it only comes in one colour because they tend to do a flurry of colours with their garms. One of my favourite details about the shirt, which seems to be a trademark from the label, is the bright red baseball stitching going down the back. There’s so much more to the label, so I beg you to go through their webstore.

Dear Letterman Gold Adheem Ring
Ok, not to be silly… but I really wanna cop a signet ring. I really wanna get on my gabagool shit and rock it on my pinky. Just look how happy Tony Soprano is. Such a sweetheart. I want to be like that.
I first came across this gem when I was at my friend’s crib and we were all trying to see who could be the first to cry on command — No one could do it, but we were all hella depressed. I had to pull myself out of my depression the only way I knew how — scrolling through the SSENSE sale page. I saw this joint for like $185 AUD. What a steal… but my dumbass didn’t cop and I’ve never seen it for that cheap ever again. I’m keeping a close eye out, but i’m yet to have any luck. Full disclosure, I don’t know anything about jewellery. I don’t know if it’s good or ass, but I do know it looks totally epic cool! I like that the signet resembles a coin from ancient Rome. What’s extra cool is that Dear Letterman is Australian-based and I always recommend supporting local retailers (fk Amazon).
