Thread Space's Top Picks of The Week, Week 3
We're back with out semi-regular weekly picks. We have expensive coats, colorful glasses,
Welcome back to our (probably, semi-regular) recurring segment where we share what items are on our radar and why we’re so keen on them. Mariano kicks us off with (shocker) another expensive coat.

This week is my birthday week (helllll yeahhhhh) so I’m looking down the pipeline of what’s on my Google sheets copy of ‘What I Want to Buy’ and manifesting that they’ll arrive at my doorstep.
I think Wythe has nailed all the color ways for this coat but my absolute favorite is the No Man Walks Alone exclusive colorway of brown & cream. It’s almost entirely sold out, ooooops. Any of their other colorways look great, but this one is my personal favorite.
I actually almost bought this coat a few months ago. I was cross-shopping the Drakes raglan with this one and ultimately decided to pony up the extra money for Drakes. The singular decision that made me choose the Drakes one was that the Wythe one felt way too oversized, too big of a coat. And then I tried on the Drakes one and…it also was way too oversized? It was also too big of a coat? But that’s the look. Take a gander at the Perennial lookbook Drakes posted and note that every person that wore the coat was swimming in it…but…that’’s…the look? And I was swimming in mine? But after a few dozen wears I’ve grown to love it. So I’m the idiot for spending $500 extra on a coat that fits just as big as the Drakes one did. Yay me!

The Wythe fit is very similar to the Drake’s fit; oversized and meant to worn as a layering piece. A chunky knit sweater or even a jacket under and you’ll be good to go. If you happen to be in the big coat market, this is probably your best bet in terms of long-term value, quality, and the ability to support a good ole’ USA based company. Their site says it best: “The bygone heirlooms of the past, remade to fit well and last long enough to be passed down to the next generation of dreamers.” — If you’re looking for a quality coat that your great, great grandson can wear, this is the one.
I’m a sucker for vintage looking clothing. Like yes, buying vintage hoodies is the best option but when a good one can cost you upwards for $200? Pass. “Oh but there are cheaper ones that you can find if you really look!” — Yeah, and they smell like cigarettes and old beer. Also pass. I think Brut has something special here (hahahaha get it) with their Special hoodie that mimics vintage boxing hoodies of the past.
I love the French’s fascination with vintage Americana. From what I’ve been told, Paris is a goldmine for vintage American garments. I also love that Brut has such a solid archive of vintage goods that, along with a great pulse on genuine American vintage, they use to go and produce such great ‘inspired’ garments like this. Their site has so many offerings but when I think of something I’d see a character wearing in those iconic 50-60’s era movies like Grease or American Graffiti, this is what I picture.

Yes, you’re looking at $184 for a hoodie. But what’s $184 for something that will make you look like you know how to thrift, sans the reek of cigs and beer? I think you’re actually saving money here. You get the looks without all the work required to clean and clean and clean and clean a genuinely vintage example, and that’s assuming you can even find one. Props to Brut for this one and peep their site for some other goodies, like what they did with their reworked Barbours.
You know, the older I get the more I realize that I am much less burlier than my father. That man has hands are rough as sandpaper due to all the physical labor he’s done. I sit on a laptop and wear Carhartt as I make my little blog posts while he’s working in Carhartts doing backbreaking work. I don’t know that I’d want to do the work he does, but I would like to appear like I do the same work he does. It’s like I want people to look at me and think ‘He could do physical labor but the doesn’t,’ you know? In my search for work boots, I decided I can't pull of classic wheat Timbs, but what I can do is pull off some Yuketens.
If you don’t know about Yuketen, you should go read their Philosophy page on their site to learn what they stand for and how long they’ve been around. They’re everything I’ve been writing about embedded in a brand: great materials, meticulous quality, and artistic aesthetics. They’re also almost $800, although Huckberry currently has them on sale for a little less. These are boots that not only look good, but will last as long as you are willing to wear them (which hopefully is a long, long time).

Will these make my dad respect me? No. Will they help me look like I’m someone that my dad could respect? Also no. Will these hopefully draw the eye of another menswear enthusiast as I walk out of a cute little coffee shop holding my cute little coffee and my cute little bag with my cute little laptop? Yes. And that might be all the affirmation I need tbh.

Alright fellas (and fellies), here are my top picks for the week. I’m actually proud of the fact that I didn’t add any sneakers this! pretty fkn ripper if you ask me. I bring back a previously mentioned brand, as well as some stuff specific for running!
As I mentioned above, I’m back to glazing OL’s meat for the second week in a row, but this time we’re moving in the pants direction. The Reduced Trouser, by Our Legacy, is a fantastic form of what I like to call undercover comfort — meaning comfort first, but in a way where you could almost get away with it in a professional setting. These days it’s almost assumed that sweatpants come with a cuff at the ankle. There’s a reason for that — They look better; however, I don’t think we should discredit cuff-less sweatpants into extinction.
Made with an acrylic/wool blend, these trousers come in a simple straight cut that makes it a completely versatile piece of clothing that allows the wearer to be lazy, yet sophisticated. I’m all for grey sweats wit da cuff, but let’s be honest, I would be fired if I wore those (even on a casual dress day). That’s where these come into play. These joints look comfy, yet they allow the user to go covert in comfort no matter where they are. I know these aren’t technically sweatpants, however, for the sake of discussion I’m putting these in the same category. Black cuff-less sweats became my white whale when I learned how uncomfortable it is to fly in anything other than roomy pants. But now, I can breathe easy without having to undo the waist button.

Ok, first of all. Wow.
The shirting obsession continues as I continue to be discontent with the shirting situation in my wardrobe. Thom Morison came onto my radar naturally when I was doing an iceberg deep dive of finding brands on IG, then continuing down the ‘recommended for you’ depths. But I’m glad I found them.
Based out of Auckland, New Zealand, (just across the pond), TM offers a beautiful oversized shirt in a yellow base/blue stripe combo that feels as what they would describe as ‘nostalgic’ but made in a way that fits today’s context. As mentioned last week, I’m all for swimming in a big mfing shirt. The baggier/saggier the better, and if you can match them with a 5” inseam short… well… what a devilish combination that would be. I will admit, this shirt comes with a price tag of $404 AUD, so it will take me a minute before I have the opportunity to get my grubby lil hands on one, but I’m excited nonetheless.

District Vision Koharu Eclipse Sunglasses
Ok, my last one for the week is far from a new product. These have been around for a minute, but because I’m oh so ever close to getting back to running, I’m starting to think about the necessities I need in order to run faster — cool clothing and accessories obviously.
The Koharu is an incredibly unique silhouette but still has that “I know what I’m doing” look to them, and as a runner, the look is everything. Some (me) would argue that it’s more important than actually knowing what you’re doing (which might be how I ended up with a NOF fracture)
This shape seems to be more popular with the girlies, like Sabrina Bloedorn and Justine Agana, the queens of Gorp, but that’s not to say the fellas can’t enjoy them too! The oval shape adds an element of freshness to a category that’s hard to shake up — I mean like, how many shapes are there? So props to District Vision for being able to do so.

I’m leaning towards the pink lenses because I’m searching for a wintertime pair of sunnies. Something to wear on the overcast runs. Having high visibility, but being able to keep the wind outta my eyes. I’m currently rocking the Oakley EV Path as my dailies, but they become somewhat difficult to wear on darker days/late morning sunrises.
